Diving into Django

As an aspiring programmer/software developer/web developer I am trying to keep up with technology. While at work I program in PHP(sad I know) and for the longest time I have programmed in Ruby for fun.

I have decided that its not enough. Like the Pragmatic Programmer book recommends, It is time to learn a new language. Pragmatic Programmer recommends one new language a year, now it is like 3 for me this year. Ruby, PHP, and now...........

Python.

Yes, I am going to be giving Django spin. I have decided to prototype a simple cms/blog for my personal website in Django. If all goes well and I like how it turns out I will be deploying it on my VPS and then be getting rid of this blog.

Why Django over Rails? I am kinda bored today, and I know I can do it in rails, and I know that I want to learn something new. So Python and Django it is. Sadly enough the biggest obstacle to me liking Django is going to be the URL confs. I hate RegExp's. I guess this is a chance to learn.

Keep checking back as I will keep updating this blog with all of the new things I am learning.

God bless,

Craig
